PROSTEP Participates in Aerospace & Defense PLM Action Group Digital Twin–Digital Thread Benchmark

Troy, MI, January 2026 – PROSTEP, a leading specialist for PLM integration and digital thread solutions, announced its participation as a solution provider in the CIMdata-administered Aerospace & Defense PLM Action Group (AD PAG) Digital Twin–Digital Thread Solution Evaluation Benchmark.

The newly released benchmark report confirms that substantial value from digital twin and digital thread investments is already being realized today across the aerospace and defense lifecycle. The AD PAG initiative was launched to establish a clearer understanding of what is currently possible with commercially available digital twin and digital thread solutions, based on real-world demonstrations and expert evaluation.

The benchmark was conducted by domain experts from leading aerospace and defense organizations in collaboration with CIMdata and industry partners. PROSTEP participated alongside other global solution providers, contributing demonstrations and insights into implementation strategies, current value delivery capabilities, and future digital thread visions in complex, heterogeneous IT environments.

“Digital twin and digital thread concepts are moving decisively from vision to execution in aerospace and defense,” said Paul Downing, CEO of PROSTEP.

“We were pleased to contribute to this independent benchmark and to support an industry-wide effort focused on practical implementation, measurable value, and open collaboration across engineering and enterprise systems.”

The AD PAG benchmark evaluated a broad range of digital twin–digital thread use cases spanning multiple lifecycle stages for aerospace OEMs and their supply chains. The findings highlight an evolving solution landscape characterized by strong capabilities, varying maturity levels, and a clear need to address organizational and technological challenges to fully unlock the potential of digital continuity.

PROSTEP’s participation reflects its long-standing focus on enabling interoperability, traceability, and continuity across multi-vendor system landscapes. As part of its Digital Thread Platform, PROSTEP supports customers in integrating PLM, ALM, MBSE, and other enterprise systems to establish reliable, scalable digital threads across the product lifecycle.

“The benchmark reinforces the importance of open, scalable integration as a foundation for digital thread success,” said Karsten Theis, CEO at PROSTEP AG, “Ensuring consistent, governed data flows across disciplines remains a critical success factor for aerospace and defense organizations.”
