Lattice was founded in April 2023 with the business objective of developing AI-based applications for document, contract lifecycle, and knowledge management in shipbuilding and offshore industries and other sectors, based on its own software. A specialist in AI transformation (AX) and system integration (SI), Lattice has, for example, equipped one of South Korea’s leading shipyards with various enterprise applications, including a shipbuilding-specific specification management system and an ontology-based knowledge management system for special-purpose ships. Lattice is a key partner for this shipyard when it comes to system integration.
Lattice’s customers in South Korea’s shipbuilding and offshore industries are increasingly faced with the challenge of having to convert design data from international clients into formats compatible with their own CAD environments for manufacturing. In shipbuilding in particular, it is not only the 3D data that must be converted, but model structures and manufacturing-related attributes must also be transferred in a semantically correct manner. This is exactly what PROSTEP’s integration technology achieves.
OpenPDM SHIP not only connects heterogeneous PLM, ALM, and ERP systems but also provides, as standard, proven connectors to all common shipbuilding-specific CAD systems. Through these connectors, CAD data —including manufacturing-relevant information —can be exchanged between the connected systems without any loss of information. Automatic conversion significantly reduces the time and cost required to recreate design data for manufacturing.
Against this backdrop, Lattice decided to bring PROSTEP on board as a solution and technology partner with a first proof of concept planned as the starting point of the collaboration. “PROSTEP is one of the world’s leading integration specialists and has numerous references in the shipbuilding and offshore sectors in Europe, the Americas, and the Asia-Pacific region. That’s what convinced us,” says Sangwon Kang, CEO of Lattice.
The MoU provides for a long-term collaboration between the two partners, in which PROSTEP will provide the integration technology and Lattice will act as the local implementation and service partner. “Our shared goal is to expand our business in South Korea’s shipbuilding and offshore industries in the long term using our proven integration technology and to gradually introduce additional components of our PROSTEP Digital Thread Platform to the South Korean market,” adds Peter Pfalzgraf, Partner Manager at PROSTEP.
